Privacy Policy

STAY BUDDY (hereinafter referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our Company”) is committed to protecting the personal information we handle in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter the “Personal Information Protection Act”), related laws and regulations, guidelines, and the following Privacy Policy (hereinafter this “Policy”). The terms used in this Policy shall follow the definitions provided under the Personal Information Protection Act.

Article 1: Purposes of Use of Personal Information

We shall clearly state the purposes for which our customers’ personal information is used and shall use such information only within the scope of those stated purposes. Should it become necessary to use a customer’s personal information beyond the scope of the purposes stated in advance, we shall notify the customer accordingly and use the information only after obtaining the customer’s consent.

(1)   To provide our services (hereinafter the “Services”).

(2)   To improve and enhance the content of the Services, or to develop new services.

(3)   To provide information regarding new features, updates, campaigns, and other services offered by us (including the distribution of emails, flyers, and other direct mail).

(4)   To contact you as necessary regarding maintenance, important notices, and similar matters.

(5)   To respond to opinions, inquiries, and similar communications from users regarding the Services (including identity verification).

(6)   To report usage of the Services to users.

(7)   To request cooperation with surveys, interviews, and similar activities relating to the Services, to invite participation in various events, or to report the results thereof.

(8)   To investigate and analyze usage history and similar data relating to the Services, and to use the results for the improvement and development of the Services and the delivery of advertising.

(9)   To provide personal information to participating companies and others in events hosted by us, based on the user’s consent or application.

(10)   To identify and refuse service to users who violate the terms of use, or who seek to use the Services for fraudulent or improper purposes.

(11)   For other operations that we determine will contribute to improving service for our customers.

Article 2: Proper Acquisition of Personal Information

When acquiring personal information, we shall do so by proper means. Except in cases where an exception is warranted by law, we shall either publicly announce the purpose of use in advance, or promptly notify the customer or publicly announce the purpose after acquisition. However, when acquiring information directly from the customer in writing (including electronic records), we shall state the purpose in advance. Except in cases where an exception is warranted by law, sensitive personal information shall be acquired only with the customer’s consent.

Article 3: Management of Personal Data

We shall keep the personal data we handle accurate and up to date within the scope of the purpose of use, and shall endeavor to delete such data without delay when it is no longer needed (except where a retention period or similar requirement is prescribed by law). In addition, we shall implement the following necessary and appropriate measures to ensure the security of personal data, including the prevention of unauthorized access, alteration, leakage, loss, and damage, and shall supervise our employees and contractors accordingly.

(1) Managing employee entry and exit, restricting the devices brought in, and limiting access to information.

(2) Anti-theft measures.

(3) Measures to prevent unauthorized access.

Article 4: Provision of Personal Information

Except in the following cases, we shall not provide our customers’ personal information to third parties.

When providing information to third parties, the personal information provided shall be limited to that which you have supplied to us. However, it shall be limited to the minimum personal information necessary, and its scope of use shall likewise be so limited.

 1. When the customer has given consent.

 2. When providing information to a contractor performing all or part of our operations.

 3. When it is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound upbringing of children, and it is difficult to obtain the individual’s consent.

 4. When cooperation is necessary for a national agency, a local government, or a party entrusted by them to carry out affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the individual’s consent is likely to impede the performance of such affairs.

 5. When a business is succeeded due to a merger, corporate split, transfer of business, or other reasons.

 6. When it is necessary for the protection of the life, body, or property of an individual, and it is difficult to obtain the customer’s consent.

 7. When disclosing information as “statistical data” that cannot identify individuals.

Article 5: Outsourcing of the Handling of Personal Information

We may outsource operations necessary for providing our Services. In such cases, we shall provide only the minimum personal information required for the relevant operations, and shall likewise limit its scope of use accordingly. Furthermore, we shall thoroughly assess the suitability of contractors, and through contracts including confidentiality agreements and other measures, exercise necessary and appropriate supervision—such as ensuring that use is confined strictly to the scope required for the outsourced work—in order to ensure the appropriate protection of personal information.

Article 6: Disclosure and Related Matters of Personal Information

Should we receive any of the following requests directly from a customer regarding the personal information we manage, we shall respect the customer’s wishes and take the necessary action within a reasonable scope, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.

 1. Verification of content.

 2. Correction, modification, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to third parties.

 3. Withdrawal, in part or in whole, of consent already given to us regarding the use of personal information.

Article 8 (Amendment Procedures)

We shall review the content of this Policy from time to time and strive to improve it. Except for matters otherwise stipulated by law or elsewhere in this Policy, the content of this Policy may be amended. The amended Privacy Policy shall take effect from the time it is notified to users by a method prescribed by us, or posted on our website.

Article 9 (Use of Cookies, etc.)

1. We may use cookies and other information-collection modules and similar technologies (hereinafter “Cookies, etc.”) to obtain users’ access information, browsing information, and similar data relating to the Services, for purposes such as access analysis. Please note that the information obtained through Cookies, etc. (hereinafter “Cookie Information”) does not, on its own, contain any information that can identify or specify a user.

2. Users may configure the settings for the use of Cookies, etc. on the Services. If you do not wish to permit the use of Cookies, etc., you may disable Cookies, etc. through your browser settings and similar means. However, if Cookies, etc. are disabled, the convenience of the Services may be impaired, or the range of services available through the Services may be limited.

3. We shall use Cookie Information for the purposes of operating, maintaining the quality of, and improving the Services, as well as for the development and improvement of our products and services, and for delivering advertising tailored to each user’s usage of the Services.

Article 10: Other Matters

1. Providing your personal information is at your discretion; however, if you do not provide the information we request, you may be unable to use our services, receive responses to your inquiries, or the like.

2. If your personal information is deleted or its use suspended at your request, you will no longer be able to use our services.

3. In cases where we have separately and individually indicated the purpose of use, such as through a notice to you or your approval of the terms of use, the content of that individual purpose of use shall take precedence over the descriptions above. Please note this accordingly.

4. We may handle acquired information as anonymously processed information, in which case we shall make a separate public announcement.

5. We shall review our efforts to protect personal information from time to time and strive to improve them. To this end, please note in advance that we may amend this Policy without notifying you. Any amended Policy will be announced on this web page.

Please note that a separate privacy policy shall be established for our employees and officers as data subjects.
